Rajasthani Tadka Dal Recipe

  • 1 cup cleaned and washed split peas (toor dal)

  • 2 tomatoes, cut finely

  • 2 tbsp ghee or oil

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In the pressure cooker, cook the dry toor dal with water, Jivana Turmeric, chopped tomatoes, green chilies, and salt until it is well cooked (soft and mushy). Other instructions: Keep aside.

  2. Heat some oil or ghee in another saucepan. Add the turmeric, mustard, and cumin seeds. Let them dissolve.

  3. Onions should be chopped and cooked till golden brown.

  4. Fry for 1 minute after adding red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam spices.

  5. Add the cooked dal mixture into the pan with the spices. Mix all carefully and add water to adjust consistency as needed.

  6. If it does not taste hot, it should be boiled for 2 to 3 minutes.

  7. It is good to garnish with fresh coriander leaves while serving.
